ABOUT US
ESTABLISHED 2021
Founded & Based in San Jose, CA
Golden Turtle Lion Dance Association was originally established in 2021 as a high school club. Our founders started lion dancing as early as 7 years old and since then, their passion grew. Originally, they started with Traditional Vietnamese Martial Arts Based Lion Dance which later evolved into Sar Ping Hok San style Lion Dance. The inclusiveness of the club later on grew to be the distinguishing foundation of what is now Golden Turtle Lion Dance Association. What differentiates Golden Turtle Lion Dance Association from others is that many lion dance troupes are only available at martial arts schools, churches, and temples. Golden Turtle Lion Dance, on the other hand, is open to everyone, regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, or physical ability.
OUR MISSION
Our mission at The Golden Turtle Lion Dance Association is to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of lion dancing while empowering our youth to become dynamic leaders for future generations. Through high-quality performances, community outreach, and educational initiatives, we aim to enrich the San Francisco Bay Area with the art of lion dance and provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for our youth to learn and grow.
